About Us
Center for Professional and Institutional Development (CPID) was established after the merging of the formers Training and Capacity Building (TCB) Directorate, which served as IST center, and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Center. The new center has incorporated all the services given by the two former offices and new initiatives that help the college and the development of CPD services in the country. The center is directly responsible to the college’s Academic and Research Vice Provost (ARVP)
Panel of experts
In order to accomplish the smooth implementation of CPD in the college and the country at large, CPID has established a team panel of experts (POE). The members of POE are selected from different disciplines and departments using predefined selection criteria. CPID has a total of 45 actively working experts from the following disciplines and service areas:

Dr. Mitiku Getu

Dr. Mitiku Getu
Director, Center for Professional and Institutional Development (CPID)
For over 3 years, Dr. Mitiku has been a noteworthy leader in the CPID(Center for Professional and Institutional Development) space. You may know him from his work as Director at CPID, but he can also be credited for his contribution as a lecturer in the department of psychiatry at SPHMMC.
Six months after joining SPHMMC, Dr. Mitiku served the college as the Center of Soft Skills and Career Development Director and as a Training Officer in the former Training and Capacity Building (TCB) directorate.
He has been actively participating in SPHMMC since he was an undergraduate as a SCOPH Director at EMSA for 3 years and GC president of the class of 2018; as a president, he was able to retain more than 25% of the batch at SPHMMC as a lecturer.
He is also a founder and head organizer of Ethiopian Brain Awareness Week since 2013. He has been a great benefactor to mental health advocacy by preparing a digital magazine called “ሙሉጤና” and a Mental Health training manual for high school teachers along with other awareness creation activities held in person and media.
He has considerable expertise in Healthcare leadership, Continuous Professional Development (CPD), Electronic Medical Record (EMR) implementation, Instructional Designing, and Healthcare Business Development and Administration. Dr. Mitiku is currently studying MSc in Health Economics at AAU and finalizing his Master of Business Administration(MBA) in addition to his fellowship at FISQUA.

Amare Dagne

Internal CPD Program Coordinator
Amare Dagne, who is a specialist in CPID training and hospital supervision, is currently working as an Internal CPD Program Coordina- tor at SPHMMC. He served as a director of the training and capacity building directorate before joining CPID. Since earning his Master’s degree in public health from the University of Tsinghua, Amare spent a decade in SPHMMC coordinating and giving continuous professional development activities and several other trainings. In addition to this, he worked as a chair of the college’s discipline committee. Prior to joining SPHMMC, he worked at the national defense hospital and the Gilgel-gibe 2 hydro- electric project as a nurse devoted to his country. Besides his devotion to his work, he is a dedicated husband and father.

Nura Idris, an enthusiast to make SPHMMC’s CPID a big and exemplary center, has been a Program Officer for 6 years. Being one of the former members of the CPD, she worked as a photocopier, and secretary and has currently attained the position of Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning, and Planning (MELP) Coordinator. She has been honored with certificates for her contribu- tions to CRC, Leadership, MCH, and BES. She holds a Master’s degree in public health from Sante Medical College which she wants to grow to a Ph.D.
